On June 29, 2026, in Lakeland, Florida, 23-year-old Tatiana Norman was at home with her two young children. What began as an ordinary day would later become the focus of a disturbing criminal investigation after her six-month-old son, Jeremiah Peters, suffered fatal injuries.
According to the Lakeland Police Department, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at approximately 11:39 p.m. The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
Initially, Norman provided investigators with explanations suggesting that the infant had accidentally fallen from a bed. However, subsequent medical examinations revealed injuries that were inconsistent with her account.
During a later interview with detectives, Norman allegedly admitted that several incidents had occurred throughout the day. She told investigators that she had accidentally dropped the baby, that his bassinet had tipped over, and that she had intentionally thrown him into a playpen with an unpadded floor.
Investigators also discovered that Norman had searched online for information about concussion symptoms and whether a baby with a possible concussion needed emergency medical attention. Despite the infant’s deteriorating condition, she allegedly failed to seek immediate medical assistance.
According to police, medical experts determined that the child might have survived if he had received timely treatment.
