ALTAR OF JUSTICE My Manager Fired Me To Please The Chairwoman Daughter But He Had No Idea He Was Talking To The Real Heir

The atmosphere in the data department of Vance Corporation—usually filled with the rhythmic tapping of keyboards and the hurried movement of files—was abruptly shattered that Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. A sharp slam cut through the calm as a thin folder was thrown forcefully onto my desk, sliding across its laminated surface.

I slowly lifted my head, adjusting my thick black-rimmed glasses. Standing in front of me was Thomas—a mid-level manager with an inflated sense of authority. Dressed in a tailored gray suit with a loosely tied silk cravat, he tried to project an image of high status that didn’t quite suit him. His eyes were full of undisguised contempt.

“Pack your things,” he said loudly. “HR will send your termination notice this afternoon. Don’t bother coming in tomorrow.”

His voice carried across the office, drawing everyone’s attention. All eyes turned toward me—an ordinary intern buried behind endless spreadsheets. Some colleagues looked at me with sympathy, others with quiet amusement. In the corporate world, someone else’s downfall is often treated as entertainment.

“And the reason?” I asked calmly.

Thomas leaned forward over my desk. “Incompetence. Poor performance. Damaging the company’s image. Do you think this is a charity?” Then, lowering his voice, he added, “This comes directly from Mia, the Chairwoman’s daughter. She saw your report and called it a disaster. Now leave before security escorts you out.”

At the mention of Mia, I let out a soft laugh—completely out of place in the tense room. Thomas grew irritated and reached for my ID badge.

“What’s so funny? Take it off and get out!”

I brushed his hand aside with a calm but firm motion. Then I removed my glasses and placed them neatly on the desk. For three months, they had been my disguise. Without them, my presence shifted entirely.

“You say I’m an embarrassment,” I said evenly. “And that this is an order from the Chairwoman’s daughter. Then let’s confirm that with the Chairwoman herself.”

Thomas burst into laughter, mocking me in front of everyone. But I ignored him. I pulled out my old phone and opened a secure app. There was only one contact saved: “Mom.”

The room fell silent as the call connected. On the screen appeared a woman with a commanding presence—Helen Vance.

“Lisa, what happened?” she asked, her voice firm.

Thomas went pale. I spoke calmly: “Manager Thomas is firing me under Mia’s orders. I just wanted to confirm when she took control of the company.”

My mother’s expression hardened. “Who is Thomas? Put him on.”

He stammered, trying to explain, but her response was cold and decisive: “Stay where you are. I’m coming down personally.”

After the call ended, panic set in. Thomas tore up the documents and began pleading, trying to shift blame. I simply watched.

Moments later, Mia walked in confidently, dressed in luxury. “Why is she still here?” she demanded.

I stood up. “Do you even know whose money paid for that bag you’re carrying?” I asked.

She responded arrogantly—until a cold voice cut through the room from the doorway.

The employees parted instantly. Chairwoman Helen Vance had arrived.

“From now on, you address me as Chairwoman,” she told Mia sharply. Then she announced, “Lisa is my only biological daughter and the sole heir of Vance Corporation.”

Thomas collapsed. Orders were given for his immediate termination and a full audit. Mia was stripped of all privileges and reassigned to a low-level position.

Then my mother turned to me. “Your internship ends here. You are now Special Assistant to the CEO.”

Before leaving, I handed my notes to the only colleague who had defended me. “I’ll be watching your progress,” I told her.

The next day, everything had changed. A new suit, a new role. As I waited outside, someone mocked me—until a Rolls-Royce Phantom pulled up and a chauffeur stepped out to open the door.

“Miss Vance, your ride is ready.”

I stepped in without looking back. The game was over. The masks were gone.

My era had just begun.
