US launches military strikes on Venezuela, Trump says Maduro captured and flown out of the country!

Posted on January 4, 2026 By Aga Co No Comments on US launches military strikes on Venezuela, Trump says Maduro captured and flown out of the country!

In a dramatic surge of geopolitical tension that has reverberated throughout the Western Hemisphere, U.S. military forces carried out a series of highly coordinated precision strikes against Venezuela in the early hours of Saturday. President Donald Trump described the action as a “large-scale strike,” an operation that ultimately led to the extraordinary detention of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. According to official statements from the White House and the Department of Justice, the couple was apprehended during a covert ground mission and swiftly transported out of Venezuela to the United States, where they are now facing criminal prosecution.

The operation was reportedly led by Delta Force, the U.S. Army’s elite Tier 1 special operations unit. Sources familiar with the mission characterized it as a carefully planned assault on the core of Venezuela’s leadership, designed to neutralize the regime’s command structure while limiting civilian harm. This action follows months of heightened U.S. military positioning in the Caribbean, including the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group and multiple supporting naval assets—moves now widely viewed as a calculated precursor to the intervention.

In the lead-up to the operation, the Trump administration had intensified pressure on Venezuela through aggressive maritime enforcement. U.S. naval and Coast Guard units recently intercepted two large oil tankers near Venezuelan waters and conducted lethal strikes against more than thirty smaller vessels. U.S. officials alleged these boats were integral to a government-backed narcotics trafficking network. President Trump emphasized that recent airstrikes focused on port facilities allegedly used to load drugs, framing the campaign as a sweeping international law-enforcement action rather than a conventional war for regime change.

Simultaneously, the U.S. legal system moved with remarkable speed. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the arrival of Maduro and Flores in a public statement, asserting that they would soon “face the full force of American justice” in U.S. courts. Her remarks reinforced a long-standing legal pursuit: Maduro was indicted in 2020 on charges including narco-terrorism, conspiracy to traffic cocaine into the United States, and illegal possession of military-grade weapons.

Bondi further explained that the case is being handled by the Southern District of New York, a jurisdiction known for prosecuting major international criminal cases. While Maduro’s indictment is not new, the detention of his wife marks a notable expansion of the investigation. Flores—often referred to as Venezuela’s “First Combatant”—was not named in the original charges, prompting speculation that additional sealed indictments were issued shortly before or immediately after the military operation.

Political reactions in Washington were swift and sharply divided, though even veteran policymakers expressed shock at the boldness of the move. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a long-time critic of the Maduro regime, reportedly briefed congressional leaders and suggested that the administration does not anticipate further military action in Venezuela. According to senior Republican officials, the mission was intended solely to capture and extract Maduro, not to occupy the country or initiate a prolonged intervention. The strategy appears focused on removing the leadership and allowing internal Venezuelan forces to shape the political aftermath, under the watchful presence of U.S. naval power offshore.

Internationally, the response has been marked by alarm and uncertainty. While many Western nations have condemned Maduro’s human rights record and disputed his legitimacy, the direct military seizure of a sitting head of state has raised serious concerns about international law and regional stability. Supporters of the operation argue that accountability must override diplomatic convention, particularly when confronting what they describe as a criminal organization operating under the guise of a government.

Within Venezuela, the humanitarian and political consequences remain unpredictable. With Maduro removed, power in Caracas is unstable. The military strikes on infrastructure and ports have disrupted daily life, and the sudden leadership vacuum could either pave the way for a peaceful political transition or ignite internal conflict among loyalists, rival factions, and armed groups.

As the first day of a post-Maduro era comes to a close, global attention has shifted to the U.S. federal court system. Detaining and prosecuting a former head of state in New York presents unprecedented legal and security challenges. Should the case proceed to trial, it may become one of the most consequential legal proceedings in modern international history, potentially exposing the inner workings of the alleged “Cartel of the Suns” and the networks of drug trafficking, money laundering, and arms deals linked to Maduro’s rule.

President Trump has already portrayed the mission as a decisive victory for his “America First” agenda, emphasizing the use of elite forces instead of a large-scale invasion. Attorney General Bondi’s public praise for the military reinforces an atmosphere of triumph within the administration. For Venezuela’s population, however, the removal of their long-time leader marks only the beginning of a deeply uncertain chapter, as the aftermath of the strikes settles and the reality of a nation without Maduro begins to unfold.
