What should have been a tender and quiet moment between father and son ended up turning into an irreparable loss. In Anápolis, about 55 km from Goiânia, a two-month-old baby lost his life after accidentally falling from his father’s arms. The man, overcome by exhaustion, had dozed off while holding the child. What followed was a tragedy that has shaken the community and is now under investigation by the Civil Police.
How the Accident Unfolded
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning, in the Jardim das Américas 2ª Etapa neighborhood. According to the father’s statement, he had been holding the baby when fatigue took over and he fell asleep, unaware of the risk. In those few moments, the child slipped from his embrace and suffered a fatal fall. When the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) arrived at the residence, rescuers could only confirm the baby’s death.
The Forensic Medical Institute (IML) immediately reported the case, prompting the Military Police to intervene. From that moment, the tragedy began to be handled with great care, and relatives as well as potential witnesses were called to provide details that might help clarify exactly what happened.

Although the police chief responsible for the case, Kênia Segantini, has not yet issued an official statement, investigators are carefully examining the father’s testimony and other accounts. Their main goal is to determine whether this was purely a domestic accident or if other circumstances might have played a role.

Specialists emphasize that allowing babies to sleep in a parent’s arms, on the lap, or even in the same bed poses serious risks, including falls and suffocation. Health authorities strongly advise that infants always sleep in their own cribs, free from pillows, blankets, or any objects that could endanger them.
This case, marked by sorrow and unanswered questions, serves as a painful reminder: even in the most ordinary moments of affection, vigilance is essential. A few seconds of rest can change everything forever.
