5 Signs That You’re Not Loved, You Are Being Used

Posted on September 6, 2025 By Aga Co No Comments on 5 Signs That You’re Not Loved, You Are Being Used

1. They Take Everything From You but Give Nothing Back

A clear sign that you are being used is when you are always the one giving—time, energy, emotion, or even money—while the other person never makes any effort to give back. For example, you may find yourself supporting them through every challenge, taking care of their needs, but when you need help or support, they disappear or make excuses. True love is reciprocal; when the relationship is one-sided, it’s a clear sign your feelings are being exploited.

2. They Only Reach Out When They Need Something

Another strong indicator is when the person contacts you only when they need help or want something from you. They don’t check in to ask how you are, celebrate your important days, or show genuine interest in your emotions. Every interaction feels conditional and driven by self-interest rather than care for you as a person.

3. They Don’t Respect Your Feelings

If you feel ignored, belittled, or dismissed when expressing your concerns and emotions, it shows a lack of respect and care. For instance, when you share your fears or sadness, they may laugh, blame you, or act as if your feelings don’t matter. True love seeks to understand and support, whereas someone who uses you exploits your sensitivity to achieve their own goals.

4. You Always Have to Make the Effort

In a healthy relationship, both parties invest in the wellbeing of the connection. If you’re always the one initiating contact, arranging meetings, making sacrifices, or resolving problems while the other person does nothing to maintain the bond, it’s a sign of being used. You may feel exhausted from always taking the first step or solving conflicts, while the other person contributes nothing. This creates an unequal and emotionally draining dynamic.

5. You Feel Empty and Undervalued

True love fills you with joy, security, and positive energy. If a relationship leaves you feeling drained, unappreciated, or constantly worried about being exploited, there is no real love. That feeling of emptiness signals that the other person has benefited emotionally from you without giving anything in return. A healthy relationship should make you feel valued and supported, not manipulated or used.
